Pomapoo Grooming

E-mail Print PDF

A Pomapoo's coat, because of the hybrid breed characteristics, will vary between the straight and long coat of a Pomeranian, or wavy and curly like a Poodle. As such, different types of coat will have different ways to groom them.pomapoo3

Coat - Straight

For coats that are of the straight and coarse variety, minimal brushing is required. However, do look out for skin problems or insect problems when brushing to err on the side of caution. Bathing and brushing may be done twice a week to help keep your Pomapoo clean.

Coat - Curly

For coats belonging to the curly and wavy variety like a Poodle, you will need to brush them more often. Do look out more vigilantly for skin and insect problems since curly have a chance of being more prone to such problems. Bathing routine is roughly the same as the straight-coats.

For both coats, occasional trips to have professionals trim your Pomapoo's hair can help keep it tidy and easier for daily maintenance.

Claws and Paws

Your Pomapoo's claws should be trimmed regularly and carefully. Failure to trim your dog's claws carefully may result in injury to your dog's quick, a soft tissue that when injured, will bleed pretty badly. Claw trimming is also a good chance to detect any signs of paw injury so that it can be treated quickly. If you lack the confidence to trim your pet's claws, you may want to leave it to the professionals to do it for you.

Teeth

It will be best to maintain a diet of dry kibble for your Pomapoo. Also, brush your Pomapoo's teeth regularly with toothbrushes and toothpastes specially designed for usage on dogs. This is because since Pomeranians, a species known to have teeth that are hard to maintain, is one of the species responsible for the creation of your Pomapoo. As such, your Pomapoo may have inherited the bad teeth, and need lots of care for it.

It is common knowledge that constant vigilance and maintenance is important to keep your pet happy and healthy. However, taking note of these suggestions as to how to care for some specific areas can help you care for your pet more efficiently.
